From the outset, it was a clear strategy to develop Pride Milling into one of the major branded manufacturers of grain-related products in our industry. Today we continue to grow exponentially, with our consumer brands and industrial products prominent in all major distribution channels in South Africa and internationally targeted markets.

Our History

2001 - Pride Milling Company (Pty) Ltd. is formed

Pride Milling was established with the acquisition of maize mills from OTK Ltd. Since then, the company has grown from a non-branded supplier primarily focussed on regional distribution channels in Mpumalanga and Kwa-Zulu Natal, to a trusted brand and one of the largest players in the maize milling industry in South Africa.

2003 - Acquisition of the Leslie Diverse Processing and Packaging Plant

Looking to diversify the company’s offering, a processing and packaging plant in Leslie, Mpumalanga was acquired. Now, Pride Milling can produce and package foods and feeds for our Top End Retail brands, including Tops Mabele, Pride Beans, Pulses, and Snacks, Drakensberg Pet Foods and Fowl Feeds, and more.

2013 - Pride Milling Devon is converted into an industrial maize mill

A complete upgrade to Pride Milling Devon in 2013 enables the company to supply high-quality industrial products that consistently conform to the customer requirements of an international client base. We have become a powerful, diversified maize and diverse product manufacturer.

2016 – Pride Milling Company (Pty) Ltd. starts upgrades to double its capacity

A three-year plan is set into motion to double Pride Milling’s capacity and further diversify our product offering. Benefitting from economies of scale, we can now provide more to our customers. By the end of this project, we become a national distributor of our product offering.

2019 – Thebe Investment Corporation becomes a strategic long-term shareholder in Pride Milling Company (Pty) Ltd

Committed to ownership transformation within the company, the board concludes an empowerment deal with Thebe Investment Corporation.

2019 – Pride Milling Company (Pty) Ltd. Achieves B-BBEE Level 01

This is the start of a new era for Pride Milling, building on past successes with an invigorated brand and the intellectual capital of its people.

OUR MILLS

Pride Milling Nigel

Producer of white and yellow GMO and GMO-free maize products for commercial and industrial application. Products include super maize meal, super fine maize meal, samp, grits, maize rice, and hominy chop.

Pride Milling Devon

Producer of white and yellow GMO and GMO-free maize products for commercial and industrial application. Products include fine maize flour, grits, and specialised industrial maize products made according to customer requirements. This mill also produces hominy chop.

Pride Milling Ogies

Producer of white and yellow GMO and GMO-free maize products for commercial and industrial application. Products include super maize meal, super fine maize meal, samp, grits, maize rice, and hominy chop.

Pride Milling Leslie

Producer of pulses, legumes, grains and sorghum products; white and yellow GMO and GMO-free maize products; and animal feeds for commercial and industrial application. Products for human consumption include, among others, sugar beans, kidney beans, small white beans, green and yellow split peas, lentils, popcorn, shelled peanuts, mabele (sorghum) meal, and maize meal products. Animal feeds include unshelled peanuts, bird seeds, fowl feeds, crushed yellow maize, hamster feed and rabbit feed. This plant also produces hominy chop.
